You Gotta Know When to Hold 'Em, Know When to Fold 'Em

I thought I'd copy how my tarot cards were laid down today (as R suggested):

  1. This covers me: The Star
  2. This crosses me: 9 of Swords
  3. This is beneath me: 3 of Swords
  4. This is behind me: The Moon (reversed)
  5. This crowns me: 8 of Cups (reversed)
  6. This is before me: King of Cups
  7. What I fear: Page of Cups
  8. What others think: Queen of Wands
  9. My hopes: King of Pentacles
  10. Final outcome: The Hermit (reversed)

I will abstain from interpreting it too closely until I get some decent books. (That 3 of Swords seems to just keep coming upâ€â€my third reading in a row, now. What's up with that?)

Now, ever since things started getting weird in April, I once again began to consult the cards. (My sister bought them for me for Christmas in, I don't know, 1996?) But, just like all advice, all it tells you is what you already know, but wish you didn't.

You know what it makes me think of? The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick. (This book is about an alternate universe where the Axis wins WWII and the U.S. becomes divided between Japan and Germany.) In this book, every character consults the I-Ching for advice on everything.

Anyway. It hailed today. Despite it being around 80 degrees. Have I ever told you how much I love the weather here?
