Let me just say this: If you are in medicine for the money, not only are you corrupt and evil, but stupid too. There are clearly much better ways to earn a million dollars, all of which would take a fraction of the training. I remember reading in some medical economic journal somewhere that, when considering the amount of debt one has to take on to become a physician, a doctor doesn't start making more money than a plumber until about 10-15 years into their practice.

This is not to say that we shouldn't get paid for what we do. In fact, if anything, what I'm saying is that we should at least get what we deserve, nothingless, but nothing more, either. The primary care physician practicing in the urban underserved environment should at least be making a wage that allows him or her to pay back their student loans. The quack should not be making several hundred thousand dollars a year swindling unsuspecting patients. Ah, but, yes, I know, I know. Life is not fair. Well, hell, we can at least try, can't we?
