I know I
stopped writing here since the invasion of Baghdad, but I also
recognize that the war is far from over. Some accounts seem to
indicate that just as many Americans, if not more, are dying now in
this occupation period.
It's interesting the extreme level of defensiveness the
neocons now exhibit, resorting to fullblown fisking and ad hominem
attacks, trying to discredit the increasing number of reports from
the war front that indicate that, as predicted, things are not
going well. We have officially entered the morass stage, where to
either pull out or to keep our forces in will result in
catastrophic consequences.
I realize that my perspective may be skewed since I've
given up on watching network TV and have stopped reading mainstream
papers, getting all my news from blogs, newspaper articles featured
on popdex, and free alternative newspapers. But it seems that it is
becoming a running joke. W and his cronies can't find anything. Not
Osama, not Saddam, not WMDs.
Doesn't it strike anybody else that Americans continue
to die because of W's prevarication that Saddam had WMDs? Honestly,
I don't see how they can make such a big deal about "liberating"
the Iraqi people. Our guys are taking dirt-naps here. What the
hell?
My dad recently pointed out to me that maybe this whole
occupation is simply a roundabout way to liquidate all the
people-of-color who are enlisted in the Armed Forces. Because,
honestly, who do you think is taking the bullets here?
I think my dad is a good barometer for how the neocons
are doing, because he is a man with no loyalties. He is registered
as non-partisan. He voted for Dole, but then he voted for Clinton.
Before the whole WMD debacle, he was behind W and the war in Iraq.
Now he thinks W is full of shit. My dad is the veritable swing
voter who is the Holy Grail of all rational politicians.
But I can't help but feel that November 2004 is too far
away. I think the revolution needs to happen sooner. Honestly, when
you compare W's bullshit to Clinton's, it is absolutely
amazing that W hasn't been tried for treason yet. I'm not
holding my breath, but I hope that some day, justice will be
served.
