As I do
not have Internet access, I cannot really look for good articles
about the blackout today. As far as I have been told by the news
(and, granted, it's been a long, long time since I've trusted
anything they've had to say), it was an Act of God. Not an act of
terrorism. Not the effect of the MS Blaster worm. I tried reaching
two of my dear friends out in NYC, but one was unavailable ("All
circuits are busy...") The other didn't even know that it was a
lightning strike, or that it hadn't gone as far west as Chicago, as
she hunkered down in the pitch black darkness.
In other news, I have decided to start using Blosxom for my blogging needs. I have
been using my home-grown collection of Perl scripts, XSLT
stylesheets, XML markup, and Makefiles for a while now, but I
haven't been able to keep up with all the modern features that
blogs have now a days. RSS. Threaded comments. Sensible archiving.
All that jazz. So I've decided to let better minds do it for me.
Thank God for Open Source.
