No I won't bother trying to recapitulate how I came to this particular song... suffice it to say that Google yields some very eccentric results sometimes, and one eccentricity yields to another....

But like I said, I've been trying to find new music, and in the midst of my quest, these lyrics from Don Henley's "The End of the Innocence" sent chills up and down my spine, particularly in light of the new Anti-terrorism laws that have recently passed, which could very well be another nail in the coffin for the Republic. (Will we have to change it to "...and to the Empire for which it stands..."? Yes, yes, I know something has to be done, but some prices are not worth paying....) Suffice it to say that I'm not the only one freaking out about this, but I suppose that's enough politics for the day. Here is the snippet of lyrics that got to me:

O' beautiful, for spacious skies
But now those skies are threatening
They're beating plowshares into swords
For this tired old man that we elected king
Armchair warriors often fail
And we've been poisoned by these fairy tales
The lawyers clean up all details
Since daddy had to lie
