Waiting for Spring

Nothing much new today. I just feel spent. Maybe I'm coming down
with something. But I can never be too sure because I'm such a
hypochondriac.
My sister is organizing a rally at UCSD, clamoring for the
lifting of the anti-affirmative action resolutions SP-1 and SP-2.
I'm really proud of her. This is what leadership and activism is
all about.
I'm becoming slowly convinced that the corporations will win in
the end, barring World War, and that if I decide to have children,
they will more likely than not be cast in chains of virtual
slavery. I'm trying not to be pessimistic about the future, but
it's really hard these days. There are bright spots of light along
the way, though.
Here's a quick update on Courtney
Love's lawsuit against Universal. No, it's not Napster-related,
but it's pretty awesome, a totally idealistic crusade. So screw
everybody who thinks that we should just accept what the RIAA has
to say about music and art just because they're the ones with the
money. Really, why should some brainless suit get to profit more
than the artist? This story actually broke yesterday--Courtney
Love alleges that recording contracts rip-off artist. The suit
specificallytargets Universal, but it'll easily have repercussions
throughout the industry.
I've been looking for the title of this rap that sounds kind of
like Bone, Thugz, and Harmony and uses "Human" by theHuman
League.
Oh, and finally, on a Napster-related tip, copyrights.net launched a program to
track down pirates. All it really does is take your shared playlist
and scan for proscribed titles. It doesn't even check to make sure
they're really what they're entitled. [Story

this one, and it was posted on Slashdot.org too.
