The Fall of the Roman Empire
Now for a taste of my randomly walking mind It's tempting to make the association between the Roman Republic and United States, something I've been thinking about ever since "The Gladiator" but more likely it's been in my subconscious ever since my first visit to Washington D.C. after Clinton's inauguration. Obviously, this would be a hopeless simplification of history. Even though I play with the model in my mind, I don't really believe in Nietschze's eternal return or Hegel's idea that history always repeats itself. Admittedly the simplification nonetheless appeals to my romantic side. So with a deconstructionist mindset in hand, I stumbled upon a site that debunks the common historical myths about the Roman Empire
