So Jorgumand AKA the Midgard Serpent, a snake so large that he curls up around the entire world, biting his own tail (or isn't this Ouroboros? I always get my mythologies confused...), has crawled in through one air-conditioning vent of my apartment (it looked like my apartment at Berkeley, but then again, that place didn't have air-conditioning...) and out another, but disturbingly, he is lying in three apparently truncated pieces, all of them unmoving. (Remember this is a dream...none of the pieces had two ends...all three of them had one end in a vent...but the weird thing is that only two vents were involved! Don't ask me how this works. There are always mathematical and topological impossibilities in my dreams.)

Now I always imagined Jorgumand to be five times as thick as a boa constrictor and just as green and scaly, but he was a lot thinner than that, and he was white and practically translucent.

Anyway, I was understandably disturbed. It seemed as if the World Snake had been chopped up and killed in my very own apartment, and I poked and prodded at the pieces. Frighteningly, they all began to move, one segment snaked around me and started squeezing, and then I remember waking up in my room in my current apartment three times. As if Dream had forgotten which particular alternate universe I had come from, and was trying to fit me into the proper one like a jigsaw piece. I kind of wonder if he got it right.
