Colder than Hell

Tue, Dec 05, 2000 08:31PM -0600

It only reached 18°F today according to USA Today and I made the serious mistake of going outside without gloves. And my face got so blasted by the cold wind that I didn't want to smile for fear that my face would crack, so a few people commented on my pissed off expression. I don't think I'm all that pissed off. Maybe just a little stressed. And weary. Feh.

Sometimes I think I have seasonal affective disorder, in which case I have made a tragic mistake by moving out of California. One of these days I'm going to have to get me a light box or something.

Dose of errant pedantry for today: Yes, the phrase "colder than hell" really does make sense. In Norse mythology, Hel is the Goddess of the Dead, whose realm lies in frozen Nifelheim.

Can you tell I'd rather not study?
